The activity of the social politics Department of the Administration of Evenkia Autonomous Area has several priority directions: the establishment of citizens' social service net; the foundation of the information base about the poorly-protected population groups; the realization of worked out inner-district programs "The elder generation", "Invalids' social help", "Children-invalids", "Children's sanitation and rest"; the perfection of new forms of social service of old and invalid citizens; the determination of children's category and number (who need an immediate sanitation ).

3130 pensioners live in Evenkia Autonomous Area. 2578 pensioners get the old-age pension, 460 - get the disability pension, 92 - children-invalids. Average old-age pension in the district is 1204,81 rubles. In comparison with 2000 year the size of pension increased more than for 30%.

2287 families with moderate means were registered in the district. 5463 children are brought up in these families. 2208 children from the families with moderate means, 551 children of lone-mothers, 668 children from the "incomplete" families, 1324 children from the large families, 146 - children-invalids, 227- orphans.

The main purpose of the social service activity is the family. Nowadays in Evenkia the great attention is given to the study of the changes of demographic family characteristics. The full-scale analyses of the Evenki family Institute will be the starting-point for the development and realization of district social programs. Within the bounds of this Institute the information base about pensioners, invalids, large and "incomplete" families is being created now.

The main social institutes in Evenkia Autonomous Area are: the boarding-house for old people and invalids in the settlement Tura, children rehabilitation centers in the settlements Vanavara and Baikit. Nowadays the regional programs of the consolidation of the material and technical basis are being realized in these social institutes. During last two years Vanavara boarding house and rehabilitation centers have received equipment on the sum of 2,6 mln. rubles.

Orphans belong to the special category of poorly-protected district citizens. The program "Children-orphans" was worked out in Evenkia with the purpose of their protection. The realization of this program has been started. Flats were bought for nine orphans, 17 graduating students received the extraordinary grant, students from colleges and institutes receive allowance. From 2001 the oil company "UKOS" every month pays allowances to "lone"-mothers.

Annually the summer sanitation company takes place in the district. Within the bounds of this company Evenki children have the possibility of the rest in the specialized establishments in Evenkia Area, Krasnoyarsk region, Khakassiya and at the seaside of the Black Sea. The Federal budget finances the summer children sanitation company. NK"UKOS" also helps to finance this project. In 2001 year 1875 Evenki children rested during the summer sanitation company.

Besides the children from the families with moderate means, orphans, children-invalids and pensioners - invalids receive the pecuniary aid for the medical inspection and treatment outside the Area.

Social canteens were opened on the district territory. The indigents and poor people can get free meal in these canteens. Such form of social activity is very effective. People who get free meal don't ask for the additional pecuniary aid.
According to the information of the Department of social politics of Evenkia Autonomous Area the number of citizens who asked for the pecuniary aid has sharply decreased. Such improvement in the social sphere is closely connected with the stabilization of salary payment (since August 2001). Besides in 2001 the district received money from the Federal budget for the realization of Federal laws "About the social invalids protection in RF", "About veterans" and for the payment of children's allowance.
