26 educational institutions are situated in Evenkia Autonomous Area.
There are 12 elementary schools (521 schoolchildren), 4 main schools (589 schoolchildren),
9 secondary schools (2166 schoolchildren), 1 special (correcting) boarding school
(73 schoolchildren). And also there are 28 pre-school educational institutes
(1147 pupils), 2 evening schools (192 schoolchildren), 5 supplementary educational
institutes (1468 children).
14 district schools have "the groups of prolong day", 11 schools
have school boarding houses.
54 teachers of Evenkia Autonomous Area have State rewards: 6 teachers have
the title of "Honored teacher of RF", 18 teachers have the title of
"Honorable worker of education", 31 teachers received "The honorable
Diploma of the Ministry of Education of RF".

The reorganization of the school educational system has been made during last
time. The teaching of Evenki language is being introduced in the schools. It
is planned to organize the special nomad schools for children who roam from
place to place with their parents.
Evenkia Autonomous Area has two secondary-special education institutes - Medical
college and Agricultural college (Tura).
Annually 120-140 boys and girls from Evenkia Autonomous Area enter the higher
educational establishments. It is done within the bounds of special purpose
contract preparation (hors concours admission). The students are taught in the
higher educational establishments of Krasnoyarsk, Sent-Petersburg, Khabarovsk,
Orenburg, Moscow, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk. 134 students entered the higher educational
establishments in 2001 (on the base of hors concours admission). 97 students
entered the free education, 17 - requiring payment education (the district Administration
annually paid for the students' education).
Since 1999 the innovation educational methods are being put into practice in
Evenkia Autonomous Area. The purpose of these methods is the overcoming of workers'
crises in Evenkia with the help of organization of educational process on the
territory of district. The supplementary professional education was organized
on the base of the district educational-methodical center (G.V. Lukyanenko is
the chairman). It gives the possibility to get training in 16 professions.
The tuition by correspondence on the distance in the higher educational establishments
is being developed. It means that during the session teachers will go to the
students. Such method gives the possibility of getting the higher education
in the district. Within the bounds of such system the Evenkia Autonomous Area
co-operates with Krasnoyarsk state pedagogical university (KSPU), Moscow state
economic, statistic and information university. It is planned to establish relations
with other higher educational establishments which will prepare necessary specialists
for the district.
The next step of the district educational program development is the possibility
of getting the higher education on the Evenkia territory. KSPU's branch was
opened in Tura in 2000. The first faculty of this University branch was the
faculty of pedagogy and method of primary education. It is planned to open the
physics, math, foreign languages faculties. It is planned to introduce the "Evenki
language" for the faculty of primary education.
The center of continuous education was organized on the base of Tura secondary
school, educational-methodic center and KSPU branch. The main purpose of this
center is the organization of continuous educational process which will lead
to the getting of higher education or actual working profession by the schoolchildren.
Nowadays the main task of the educational development on the territory of Evenkia
Autonomous Area is the educational moving to the distant district settlements.
For the solving of this problem it is planned to organize the distant external-studies
educational system.
