The medicine in Evenkia is presented by Tura Area Hospital, Tuberculosis health center, two district hospitals - Baikikskaya and Tungussko-Chunskaya, out-patients' clinic situated in Essei settlement, Ilimpiysky region.

Four district hospitals in Tutonchani settlement, Ilimpisky region, in Poligus, Surinda, Sulomai settlements, Baikitsky region, 17 midwifery stations are functioning. The area Children's Shelter situated in Vanavara settlement, forensic medicine expert bureau and Tura medical college enters the system of Public Health.

The basic directions of activities in sphere of Public Health is:

• studying the health and sickness rate of inhabitants
• the analysis and diagnostic needs in various spheres of medical and medicines care
• working up the perspective development of Public Health and developing suggestions on rational accommodation the system of institutions
• organizational methodical work
• developing and realization of purpose federal programs in the area
• coordination of Public Health institutions activities

Today's level of territory development dictate the proper approach to the problems of Public Health in the area. The basic problem in this sphere is equipping the medical institutions in Evenkia by contemporary diagnostic equipment. In the limits of this program all hospitals and midwifery stations will be equipped and provided by medicines. The capital repair was done in area hospitals (Baikit, Tura). Major building starts in Vanavara - area center of Tungussko-Chunsky area, where the hospital complex will be build and equipped.

One of the leading directions in sphere pf Public Health is the struggle against tuberculosis. In Evenkia the present position complicated by the fact that the region occupies the vast territory and frequently people of remote settlements, trading stations didn't have the opportunities to get qualified medical examine on time. In this connection in the limits of federal program "The Emergency measures on struggle against tuberculosis in Evenki autonomous area" last year the area administration has got portable fluorography apparatus for diagnosing people in remote territories. Tuberculosis hospital as also equipped with contemporary outfit: new inhaler, ultrasound apparatus, physiotherapy equipment was received. In the area is realizing the number of other Federal programs: "Vaccination", "Diabetes", "Maternity protection", "The children of the North".

The "Vaccination" program is turned to the execution arrangements on spreading prevention and lowering level of infection diseases conducting with vaccination methods. The aim of the "Diabetes" program is lowering level of disease, death rate caused by diabetes. In the limits of this program the medicines and special equipment was received.

The most important problem of Public Health is the shortage of personnel in medical institutions. The number of graduates consists of 20-25 feldshers a year. The requirements in secondary medical personnel grew essentially for the last two years in connection with the opening of social defense institutions - the Rehabilitation Center for children and teenagers and the House of aged in Vanavara.

According to this the administration has worked out the number of arrangements on enlisting the Youth to work in medical prevention institutions in the area. It is planned to bring in the contract system of personnel admittance in medical institutions.
The medical personnel have got the assistance to study in medical academic and scientific institutions.

For the purpose of immediate task decision in Public Health reform is conducted the complex analyses of rendering medical help to inhabitants.
At present the active work on medical aid improvement and rational use of resources conducted according to scientific and practical recommendations of consultants.
