Association of native not numerous nations of North (ANNNN) "ARUN" (Revival) of Evenkia Autonomous Area was found in 1989.

The initiator of its foundation was Evenki Pikunova Zinaida Nikolaevna, scientific worker of Scientific-research Institute of national schools of the RSFSR, the candidate of pedagogical science. The Programs and Regulations of the Association were made under her direct leadership.

The Constituent Assembly of Assosiation of nations of North "ARUN" (Revival) took place on the 27th of September 1989.
The chairman of organization committee of Association Z.N. Pikunova gave a report "What are the troubles and hopes of nations of North, what do they struggle for?" Later she was elected as a President of Association.

In March 1993 All-Russian Evenki Suglan was hold on ANNNN 'ARUN' initiative. During the work it became the I Congress of Russia Evenki who lived in the Russian Federation. The Association "ARUN" assisted to the unification of Evenkies of North, Siberia and Far East, the defense of their rights and interests, the solving of social-economic and cultural problems, the increase of their standard of life.

The membership of Association "ARUN" (Renaissance) of Evenkia Autonomous Area was reelected in1998 on the regular election conference of Evenkies. Smirnova Mariya Denisovna, Evenk, teacher was elected as a President of Association. New elected President took an active part in the realization of control of the execution of Federal special program "Economic and social development of native not numerous nations of North up to 2005".

The Association makes the suggestions into projects of complex programs of social-economic and cultural development of native not numerous nations of North, takes an active part in their realization, promotes the reduce of tensity in the places of compact living of native not numerous nations, helps the strengthening of friendship among the population on the territory of Evenkia Autonomous Area. The Association explains the questions of development of Evenki Autonomous Area, conducts sociological referendums among native population, solves the problems, improves social-economic state of these nations.

What are the main tasks of the Association nowadays?

Nowadays the most important task is the creation of law projects which form the legal base of relations between not numerous nations and bodies of State power. The Association solves the questions of ANNNN surviving in modern market conditions. One of the main Association duty is the control of the observance of rights and interests of not numerous nations during the solving of questions of nature usage.

The association co-operates with analogous organizations of other regions of Russian Federation. The most fruitful cooperation is carrying out with Association of native not numerous nations of North Siberia and Far East. This organization renders powerful information support, organizing and financial support for Association "ARUN" participation in the solving of problems on federal level.

Nowadays Association is drawing more active workers to its activity. Association attracted the attention of the Administration of Krasnoyarsk Region and the enterprises which work in the region to the needs of the native population.

The Association introduced two bills to the Legislative Assembly (SUGLAN) of Evenkia Autonomous Area. The work on these bills is continuing now.

The President of Association Smirnova Mariya Denisovna worked out the project "The first grant" with the help of which the Association is going to do the following:

• to complete the regional departments and primary organizations with necessary techniques, housekeeping materials, legal and reference literature;
• to organize in the regional centers seminars for members of Association, leaders of tribal communities and farms. On such seminars they will study legal rules and contracts;
• to raise professional level of members of Association with the help of necessary trade-improvement courses and works on probation;

The solving of these problems will be the continuation of Association current activity which is directed to the rise of civic activity of native not numerous nations.

Nowadays the project of agreement "About the co-operation between the Administration of Evenkia Autonomous Area and Association of native non- numerous nations of North "ARUN" (Revival) of Evenkia Autonomous Area" has been prepared. This agreement will provide the interaction of Administration and Association in the following questions:

• guarantees of rights of native not numerous nations in accordance with the Constitution of Russian Federation;
• stable development of native population of Evenkia Autonomous Area;
• preparation and conducting of joint arrangements which will be directed to the attraction of state institutes and international organizations attention to the problems of life and activity of native nations of North of Evenkia Autonomous Area;
• preparation of normative legal rules which will form the conditions of social-economic development of native not numerous nations of North, defense of their rights, preservation of traditional kinds of activity, nature, culture and language;
• realization of projects and programs with participation of native not numerous nations of North of Evenkia, Russian and international not state organizations which deal with problems of native population of North;
• assistance of Administration of Evenkia Autonomous Area to the Association in all its activity.
