The region has a lot of rivers such as Podkamenaya and Nijnaya Tunguska,
Kureika and Kotui with their numerous tributaries.
Potential hydro-power resources of Podkamenaya Tunguska are estimated at 20,6
mlrd. kilowatt-hour, Nijnaya Tunguska - 60,7 mlrd. kilowatt-hour.
Rivers and lakes are sources of fishing and hunting on waterfowl.
Basically water supply is carried out from open reservoirs. Water consumption
is very small, less than 30 m3/man per year.

Observing system of water storage condition is absent. Contaminant faults from
Irkutsk district, Severo-Eniseisk district which fall into Evenkia Area are
out of control. Ecological condition of river Velmo is in crisis, its water
is not complying with the government standards.
Fish economic fund of Evenkia Area includes the following rivers: Nijnaya
and Podkamenaya Tunguska, Kotui, Vilyui, Sikasyan, Vivi and the following lakes:
Esei (area - 238 km2), Vivi (area - 130 km2), Agata.
Ichthyfauna of Evenkia reservoirs includes 25 kinds of fish which belong to
9 families. Nijnaya Tunguska and its additional system have 24 kinds of fish,
P.Tunguska has 20 kinds of fish, Putoranski lakes have 13 kinds of fish. Evenkia
reservoirs' fish (especially in Putoranski lakes, Hatanga and Viluya) is characterized
by high intraspecific variety and presents peculiar reserve of valuable fish
species genofund.
Ichthyfauna of N.Tunguska includes mainly river and lake-river kinds. Such kinds
of fish as white salmon can be found in down-stream of the river.
N.Tunguska has hydrological peculiarities. Such kinds of fish as carp, roach,
ide and pike are prevailed in the upper part of the river. On the largest part
of middle flow (in this place N.Tunguska has a lot of rapids and shoals) such
kind of fish as umber can be found. Ichthyfauna of lower reaches of the river
is the richest. It has all kinds of fish from upper parts of the river and fish
which has migrated from Enisei and additional lakes. Sturgeon and sterlet are
not numerous and represent probable local herds.
Ichthyfauna of Putoranski lakes is poorer than ichthyfauna of N.Tunguska. Salmon
and sig are prevailed here.
